I gotta to admit that i'm really poisoned with all these rolex watches threads...after getting my sub, i'm thinking of getting a vintage rolex.

Was at Top hour at Lucky Plaza a few days back and saw a couple of rolex precison. The design is absolutely lovely. Clean yet elegant design.

So, please please tell me how much is a right price for one of those lovely rolex....i'm looking at the SS version. Is top hour reliable?

Darkie got the point, I will also encourage you to buy DJ.

The reason are:

It is automatic. hence cut down the need to wind so regularly.

You old man fingers may be less flexi as year goes by, he will find it troublesome to untighten and tighten the small crown when he need to wind the watch every 2 days.

Too much screw unscrew, the crown will damage easily.

There is also a risk of over winding the watch resulting it break sring...

Not enough reason? DJ is not that expensive when compare to 6694, and yet look much better, and work more accurately.

Agree! With that...I would like to add that. My dad is a very lazy person...if you give him a auto watch...it saves his trouble with winding and stuff. I think all the old ppl same thinking 1 hehehe

So pls tell me what is the price range that i shd be looking at. Top hour prices are too high?

Some advice and these are my personal observations but probably worth putting down. Some people might find other issues are more important to them, so your mileage will vary.

Condition is everything.
The dial is the most important and it must be dead on perfect! or close to it. (unless a VERY rare watch)
Hands should match the dial but will not stop me from buying a watch (mil sub excluded) and most hands can still be found.
Bezels should be correct and match the dial and hands. These are harder to find specially the bakelite bezels or older subs and should be reflected on the price.
Matching original paperwork is a big bonus specially if the condition is excellent and will add to the value of the watch but not a must.
Original crown, tube, datewheel and crystal are nice to have but not a must as these can also be found.
Movement and caseback information will reveal important information. (An experienced watchmaker's help is crucial)
Making sure that the watch is water proof and has been regularly serviced or is in excellent working order is more important.
DO NOT pass the watch that you really want for a few hundred/thousands dollars. Step up to the plate, specially the more rare ones. It will pay off in the long run with dividends.
Top watches in top condition will command top dollars. Expect to pay more. Period.
Rare watches in great condition with great provenance will command everything. "
