  • RECESSION! - Opportunity to bargain for better price?

Think we could seize this opportunity to squeeze & corner ADs to give us better discount than before at times like this? Just like in the stock market shopping for blue chips at a much lower price.

There is no such thing as recession in Singapore... Govt say recession, it is recession... Govt say good economy, it is good economy...

Singapore is so stable, I don't really see any difference between this year and last year (of course you don't look at ST index lah). What I meant is when you walk the street, everywhere is so crowded, everywhere need to Q, traffic jams everywhere during weekend, no beggars on streets, no major banks or company go bust in sg... everyone is still very "rich" when compared with 10-20 years ago...

Exactly!!!!, Only 2 weeks ago, many MIW's came out shouting about our economy is well placed and fundamentals strong, now suddenly few other cbl's come out and tell the cititzens it's recession time. So what are we poor citizens going to believe? Or are they just uttering what is politically correct at the right time and right place? Hmmm

The only problem in singapore is the numbers of developments to be TOP... supply is too many over demand at this point of time and also in the next 2-3 years... but experience shows that in this case, most of developers will lease out their unsold units and wait for recovery....

It you negotiate too much, they will just give you a black face and start asking for your budget and introduce some lower end models to you. If you corner them, they may report you to the Police as a nuisance. Better don't try. If you don't buy many others are waiting in line to buy (especially SS Daytonas, SDs and GV Milgausses). Many Singaporeans have deep pockets...lose $500K - $1mil in the stock market also never bat an eyelid.

Quite true.... IMO, its just the beginning, when more and more companies start to retrench workers to cut cost, share market plunge further, then we will feel the heat... and people may start to act like as "hidden dragons and crouching tigers" ....
