  • Is it really a bad idea to buy steel/YG and YG Rolex like Sub and GMT?

Is it? From a value retention perspective.

I remember reading here or somewhere else, the value for steel/YG and YG drop more than a steel version. So, it it worth it to pay a few thousands more for a TT version of Sub and GMT? When I want to sell in future, I will lose more money compared to a steel version?

I've also read here one can rarely see TT and YG Rolex in used watch store. Why is that so?

I think the price difference for steel and TT is around $4000 to $5000.

Personally...I would still prefer the SS in terms of look, and it's much easier if you need to polish away any scratches. Many of my friends have the same view. Of course it's much affordable as well.

So it explains why it's not so much in demand & hardly seen at Pre-owned shops.

Ss is more affordable to the mass population and let's face it, most ppl prefer ss cos most men don't wear alot of gold accessories, hence wearing a tt or full gold rolex with your white gold or platinum wedding ring on the same hand will look quite funny... It's more of to the individuals preference... And that's why most ppl buy ss or full white gold rolex cos not many ppl can pull off the yellow gold look... So the more the popularity the less the depreciation and the less popularity the more depriciation...

So just buy whatever style rolex that you like to wear bro... Cos at the end of the day you're gonna be the one wearing it and if you really don't want your rolex to depriciate alot but wanna wear gold then i suggest you buy a full WG rolex... Or wait till rolex comes with a TT watch that comes with steel and white gold bracelet...<<<( hope they do in the future)

And one more thing if you wanna invest on something( cos i guess you r buying a rolex as investment) but you want gold then i suggest
You buy gold bars and keep for abt ten years in your safe then sell later... Sure can profit one unless some rich folk find new and undiscovered gold mines in the world la... I think you can buy 24k gold bars for like $8k plus or something, i guess only la... Cos i was offered for that price a gold bar at a jewelry store earlier this year...

Just my thoughts on your query... Anyway gd luck on whatever rolex you are intending to buy bro...!!!

But if a person wear half gold will look like ah peh or not? Maybe the ah long or bookie look????

Anyway is it wise to buy a 1 year old TT GMT or Submariner for around $12.5k? I saw someone selling in garage.

Less than a year old rolex difference abt $1k from retail AD price or gray seller or private dealer price...???

                TS, how old are u?

if u r planning to sell ur either purchase after few years. i think a SS will command a better price.

Suppose I were to get a GMT or Sub, should I get a G series or Alphanumeric series? What are the differences?

And if I buy from AD will I get a G or Alphanumeric version?
