  • Modern day classic Rolex

The SD has had the Comex, the Sub Double red, the GMT the Pepsi and the White Pan Am whilst others like the Daytina Paul Newman have become classics which have retained value and collectibility. Which Modern day Rolex will be remembered as an all time classic?

Let me think........ mmmmm......... the Submariner 14060 (non COSC)? Or the GMT II 16710 'M' series (of 3186 movement)??

Those watches became classics because they were groundbreaking for their time, for e.g. Rolex issued to military with unique bezels and hands due to MOD requirements, first diver's watch to be certified 600m/2000ft, first Rolex to be worn by James Bond (the 6538 worn by Sean Connery in Dr No.) etc etc. They were also produced in far less numbers than today's models.

Deep Sea? Too common. Milgauss? Only the vintage ones are desirable.

The only watches in the current collection with the potential to be classics are
      1. Solid Gold Daytona with meteorite dial
      2. Sky dweller
