  • Rolex watches- smart men watches

    Hi,

Someone told me Rolex is a poor man watches. I were taken aback and ask why he said that?
His reply was once you buy a Rolex and sell it a few years later you will likely to loss very little, break even or make some profit. Especially so when you buy pre-own Rolex. However when you buy other branded watches you may loss much more especially in Asia.
I wonder why some people still want to buy direct from local AD?

Thanks for reply , I believe Rolexes are investment and can be enjoyed at the same time.

I used to think that way too, but I think it only applies to very selected models of Rolex such as the vintage and old of production models. The current productions are unlikely to appreciate in value in the resale market if they are already worn by the "investor".

I don't think watches are a form of investment, most of the time you will loss money instead .. I will take it as an expensive hobby .. Buy it, wear it and enjoy it

I wear my rolex because i like the watch and the aftersales service provided by local rsc. I bought it preowned, has already been 4 years.

Agree, wear and enjoy it. If it retains value well then all the better.

Hello. dun know you talking simi leh..
I cannot think of any logic or link as to why rolex is poor man watch because it retains its value relatively well when sold.
think here think there, no logic leh.....

I think "poor men" means it is common that it is every where kinda meaning I guess....
It is common has high demand amongst the masses that the values will remain and dun drop..

So at the end of the day it is a high end mass market product "poor men or middle class folks, like ;-( ...
The upper class ( atas ones) , dun consider rolex high end but can buy what ever the name loose money but will not hurt them at all...

Just my two cents worth translation, but whoever told bro, Temasekl2010, does sound abit like he is full of himself... hahaha

Maybe that can explain that there are some many preown Rolex shops around.
