  • Rolex Sub Price from AD/Dealer + other Qs

    Hello,

I am contemplating between a Pam 000/005/111 and a Rolex Sub. I understand that this question has been asked a gazillion times but here are my needs:

    1. A watch with date would be preferable (Sub would be a clear winner here)

    2. A watch that can fit someone in late teens to early 20's and won't look Ah Peh (Pam would be a winner here BUT Sub's design is classic but worn by people of all ages)

    3. Can be used for all functions (classroom/dinner/outing)

4 Easy to maintain, will be used as a daily-beater.

This will be my first expensive watch that I am buying with my own personal saving would want to get the best value for $ and something memorable.

    ----

I was searching this forum, in 2010 plus, some bought their Sub for only 7k+ from AD that's BNIB. What's the current price range now for preowned and AD with discounts that's preowned/BNIB?

hahaha worst by to worst, go get Seven-fridays watch hahaha

IMHO and sharing my experience on these 2 brands...

I started with Rolex for sure in the 90s. Then in 2001 was crazy into PAM Submersible range druing the C D E series as the starting thrend of big watches at 44mm. Sold all my rolex sport model n started buying a few pam sub range.

IIRC, by 2005 or 06, Ive given up PAM due to too many model introduced... Making it(TO ME) just a PAM. Nothing specialist like a Rolex Sub, GMT, Explorer n so on...

Wondering now how many people can remember n tell me wats the model of a North Pole n ARKTOS(PAM XXX)? For sure some will be able to tell me, but how many? Or some dun even know this model exist...

Am thinking if 10 years later, if a Pam 000/005/111 will be known or remembered...

For rolex sub, it will always be a rolex sub thus far... Maybe ur Ah Gong also know abt a rolex sub...

In the end, still ur choice to choose a watch...

True true, it's a classic for Rolex

But getting a pre-owned Rollie seems to be a bit risky ;(

Don't know if the owner had dropped the watch before. What's the risk of no paper?
Since most of the watches are bought from 2000-2005+,
It has been a few years, dunno if it's well-maintained to survive for the next 20 years ;(

        Hmmmmmm

Ok bro, for sure there will be risk factor involved in a pre-own watch. Do a search here in sgroc, U will find all ur answers n the precaution on risk factor by other brothers... Else, bo bian just gotta spend more on a new watch.

As for no papers, I "beat die"(in hokkien) will nv buy a no paper watch especially a Rolex bcos Im very "pang dang"... I bet my dollar that 99% a Rolex without paper is from a pawn shop...

Worst case will be a lost or stolen watch...

Ya agreed! All Pams looks pretty much similar. So I just buy 1 and 10 different straps and ppl will think I have 10 different Pams. LOL!

i was on the same boat as you 2 years ago. i ended up going with the PAM 005 because of price.
At that time I was looking at the pam 5 or DSSD.
My experience so far, whenever people saw my pam they were like eh nice watch!
Whereas my peers wearing submariners were just ignored.
But i've noticed pams getting very very common. I see them mostly on the wrists of 20-somethings.

If i were u, i would get the Sub. classic every day tool watch. plus it's automatic unlike the pam 5 and 111. Need to wind every couple of days.

Get a sub...no regrets as Pam have so many models
Pam 000 or 005 which ure eyeing is also an entry level Pam

But this is not the case if ure getting a sub

Sub is the way to go for first lux watch... Sub can wear daily to work or even weekends... PAM too casual. My two cents
