Hi there,

Torn between a 2nd hand Sub 16610 and the new Sub C 116610LN models (getting it for myself). Had my heart actually set on the Ceramic version, then started to read about the dangers of it cracking if subjected to shock and also replacement costs of that bezel as opposed to the SS ones. Is it worth to get the other additional updates, especially on the new spring and the clasp, which I've read many rave reviews about? Thanks for your help.

Hi Caleb,

It is a personal choice on what you are asking. If the newer model is what you prefer, you will have to be prepared for higher costs of repair/service in those circumstances. Blame it on the more expensive material and technology used on the newer model. Though I have heard several 'stories' about the "cracked ceramic bezel", I have not personally seen it. It could be true or just hearsay. However, I have encountered how costly it was to replace a ceramic bezel against a steel bezel insert. Estimatedly, it is a $900-$1,000 difference

1.5 years ago, i had to make the same decision, the price diff was almost 3K between a new 16610 and a 11610LN, and i figured the new buckle/clasp design and the ceramic bezel simply is not worth the additional bucks. i appreciate the chapter rings on the newer v series though. bezel replacement can be done quite easily DIY as i have googled on the web.

The new version of sub is more interesting to own. I appreciate the improvements as I'm not a vintage collector.
It's just me... But it's a good choice to have either sub as first choice

Take the 16610. Cos ur Gmt2 is ceramic. It will be quite identical.

You may wished to read about the review between the two watches. Quite a pretty good read. As for me, I will go for the sportier 116610.

so ya... deciding between the 2..

but tough call, cuz of the rave reviews abt the new sub.. otherwise, the pricing of the 16610 is enticing enough..
