Don't mind asking which boutique quote u? I encounter that oso when I go taka boutique was quoted 17k n tangs one 16.5k but ending up I grab mine from orchard central at 16k. Is either they don't have a standard quotation or the sa not being honest due to the commission I guess. Black dial is definitely much expensive then white maybe due to demand. So if u want maybe can try out at orchard central there.

Nowadays its fairly common. $16k+ is pretty standard
Woah so the price quoted refers to current or past yrs? If is current I'm surprise it raises so much cos I just bought my daytona black ss in Feb at THG.

Was looking at a black daytona in stainless steel and was quoted 17k for it...that's above retail right?

I get this feeling that ADs are artificially forcing the price up? Seldom see black SS Daytonas being displayed but when ask they always tell me."let me check if we have any in stock" then will come out and say "oh i happen to have one in the safe...just arrived today etc or it's reserved but if you can pay $$ now i can sell it to you" I mean are Daytonas really that hot and in short supply? Afterall Rolex makes a million watches a year?
