  • Hi all,

I seek to tap on your expertise on vintage rolex as i'm looking to purchase a 1680. Hope fellow members can help.

Have managed to find out some surface info on the watch from the seller and online
    - its a mark 2 dial
    - case and bracelet serial reference state both are from around 1979
    - 580 endlink and 93150 bracelet
    - model and serial numbers are clear
    - case remains sharp
    - thin font bevel insert

apart from the internal check, the watch seems ok. is there anything i missed ?

Unfortunately, i'm unable to post a picture of the watch

Good that you found something you like.
Not too sure what you are checking for or about.

Just note that since quite several months back, i have spotted fake ones ( 1680, 5513, 1675) floating in market
Gen movement and even gen dial but fake cases.

This is not to say that the watch you found is fake.

Just trying to preserve and protect the vintage Rolex community as much as possible

Please make sure you know your seller well enough
And that your sellers knows vintage Rolex well enough

      Enjoy you vintage Rolex journey....
      Cheers

      • thanks for your reply.

unfortunately, i did not get the watch. i backout at the last minute after realising the case did not match the watch.

There's so much to vintage rolex plus my previous bad experience, i gave up in finding one that fits my criteria.

If you are serious, let me know what you are looking for and a ballpark budget.
I can help to keep an open eye and ear.

          • I had got this Day-Date 1803 (Fat boy markers and hand) watch for a while.

Recently decided to buy an old gold Rolex bracelet to match up with it.

            The following are the specification of my watch ;

            Model : 1803
            Back of Casing : 1803
            Cal Movement : 1556
Mils Number : 219XXXX ( should be produced around 1970s)

the bracelet that I recently bought is 18000 quickdate series bracelet.

Still cannot show photo as i am a newbie with less than 11 posts.

Still I love that watch to bits. haha
