  • Anyone knows average cost to repair this?

    hello,

i recently got this watch from my dad which i think is a rolex 1601 bought in 1977. its in a pretty bad shape and has stopped for more than a decade according to my dad. He previously serviced it 2x in the 80s at watchmakers (not rolex centres). I would like to ask if anyone has any experience in bringing this type of watches to the rolex centre for repairs and if anyone knows the average costs of repairing something like this.

    any help is appreciated!

    thanx

Any Vintage watch which you intended to send to RSC is $1K min, they will change the acrylic crystal which included, overhaul, but any non-working parts eg winder spring, rust etc will be extra, most likely the cost would hit $1480-$1870, provided the crown they still have stocks.

There are quite a few watch repair shops out there which will cost a lot less. Let them take a look. Not worth getting it done at RSC unless you keeping it for good....

The way I look at the watch on the original post, not many watch repair shop may have the spare acrylic crystal to replace with it plus the ring too which are quite worn off. If it is changing and overhaul it might worth the while after which for normal servicing would advise to go the other repair shops around. My 2c worth advise.

I am sure the few shops who do service Rolex watches do have the Acrylic Crystal to replace it. I replaced a GMTMaster 1675 cyrstal before and it is not that expensive. Get a quote at Chuan watch Golden Landmark or Top Hour at lucky plaza before deciding.

Is your bezel white or yellow

Your bezel look yellow but crown look steel?

My 1601 was quote $1,500 to repair. in 1996.

                Now?
I was quote $2500 for my 16234 recently.

For complete overhaul datejust with calibre 3135 is $730,
Calibre 3035 will be slightly exp,
yours is calibre 1570 should cost even more.

For your case i think complete overhaul let said $800.
and i look your dial, they will ask you to change, another $510.
if not water proof, bezel, mid ase & back case also have to change.
Bezel about $900(gold),mid case $500 and back case is $92.
And your watch is stop,so usually they will quote you with Balance complete, about $400.

All above cost is $3200 without part include.

                Hope this help.
