How do you price discontinued watches when you want to sell them?
I'm curious to know how do you price it if you've no current reference?

then you use the last selling price and minus/plus according to your views. once you have your ad out, if i feel you are asking too much, either i pass, or i get in contact with you to discuss more.

personally i feel that when a watch is discontinued. it is seller's call to price it.
take for an example a sinn EZM-1, it is discontinued. assuming the last known trading price is say 6000. u can even price it @ 10,000. if you not desperate to sell, then can hang on to it. if you desperate to sell then maybe price is about 7000.
on the other hand, if you got an anonimo, last transacted price is 5000, u want to price it @ 5100 may not even get a buyer.
there are alot of factors involved,
1) condition of watch
2) box and papers
3) brand
4) current market price
5) how eager is the seller to sell
6) how eager is the buyer to buy
7) market forces

but mkt force will determine eventually what price u can get for your watch, regardless of what you price it.
I rem offering 3k for a particlar watch. it was priced at 3.5k. he die die also say don let go n screw me. 1 mth, 2 mth, 3 mth, finally after 5-6mths, he ended reducing it to 2.8k before selling. hence, its really mkt forces + luck.
buyers always wanna buy low and sellers always wanna sell high. No right or wrong price IMO
I dont need another watch, I dont need another watch, I dont need another watch, I dont need another watch.........
To be fair, I'd have approach a few 2nd-hand watch dealers and try to sell off the same watch, to get a sense of the buying price. If there is a similar piece that is close to the same description as my watch on sale, in the watch shops, it'll give a better gauge. Using this price as a guide, I'd priced the watch accordingly.
So for example, I buy a brand new watch for $2,000. After 1 year and w/in warranty, I decided to sell (with full set & 'LNIB' condition), but few shops I approach quote in the range $800. And they will then sell it for $1,300. With these prices in mind, how will you price to sell it on your own?

it all about spending sometime to research on all the sources listed. The put it out to test and adjust accordingly once you receive offers. NO hard and fast rules as the discontinued watch may be gold for some and nothing for others.
