This is a good example of why I am against such rash postings in forums. Many forummers don't even read each posting carefully much less the whole thread that may run into pages with lots of chaff thrown into the mix. With an inflammatory title like this, its always a case of being guilty until proven innocent. For this seller Miki Khoo unfortunately, his integrity will be forever tainted no matter what transpires next.

Let's just for discussion sake, assume I am the seller here (I will be accused for speaking up on behalf of the seller anyway so might as well admit it)

One day someone calls me up, claims that she bought a watch from me 8 months ago and she just realised that it is a fake and wants me to do something about it.

Now, I am bewildered and somewhat annoyed that she is calling me 8 months later to dispute this but the lady is persistent and expects me to respond, I got irritated and told her that this is not fair to me. Given that I cannot even clearly recall what happpened back then, I refused to meet and left it as it is.

Now the buyer proceeds to post in two well known watch forums that I am a suspected scammer for the following reasons (please pay attention here as this will be the guiding principle for us to identify would be scammers in future)

    1) I was rude and 'arrogant'
    2) I buy and sell U boats from 'clubs' frequently and is therefore suspicious
    3) I buy and sell small items on Ebay often, so that I can get good ratings on Ebay to pose off as a genuine seller to scam people

Meanwhile, the buyer delays verifying the watch as she is simply too busy while I continue to be a suspected scammer.

Now, this could only lead to the following scenarios after the buyer verifies the watch:
    1) Watch is indeed a fake and my details will be posted in full glory (or my hp number that is, since my full name has already been given and details of the my working place hinted). To which I will deserve it since I am indeed a scammer.

    2) Watch is proven to be authentic, and buyer comes clean to me, tell me about the posts she made about me accusing me of being a scammer. I will be so touched by her honesty that i agree to go a KTV and sing song together with her.

    3) Buyer realised she had shot herself in the foot, kept all the gory details from me but apologizes in the forum anyway to show others that she is remorseful. However, if someone ever does a search for U Boat in the forums, my name will always come up as a suspected scammer who sells fake U boat watches till time memorial. Meanwhile I continue to be ignorant of my new found fame.

I am waiting with abated breath to see how this saga unfolds in the end.

Princess_glyn, I can understand your frustration and anger in feeling scammed as I have been scammed a couple of times on Ebay over the years too. At no time am I vouching that the seller is not a scammer. He may or may not be one and you can only tell for sure after you send the watch for verification. Proof is all it takes and it can be easily done right? Why jump the gun and risk being wrong? Its a chain of events that cannot be stopped once started, don't you think?

The seller may be arrogant and dismissive but that does not mean he's a scammer. For example, if you sold someone a genuine Daytona that you paid big bucks for only to have that person come back to you after 6mths to say that its a fake, wouldn't you react the same way as the seller? Anyway, you will know for sure once you send the watch in. If its a fake, please post here so that we can help you think of ways to get him.

Anyone who gives a differing viewpoint is the seller or friend of the seller? Listen to yourselves sometimes This is the most juvenile of forum attacks against someone who speaks against the lynch mob.

You guys can come here to crucify someone without proof just because you can remain anonymous? I have seen this type of situation all so often. When you are proven wrong, you will just change the nick or just disappear from the forum leaving the person you attacked maligned for as long as the thread exists in the forum. Where is the justice in allowing people to accuse others without proof and without the other party present to defend himself/herself?

Princess_glyn, you should have verified that you have indeed been cheated before you come here and tell everyone so. That is the point of my post. If you are proven wrong, you think you can repay whatever you have cost the seller in reputation and goodwill? You accused someone of a crime without proof and that's what irks me. If you have the proof and you just want to state your case here, I would definitely have been on your side. I hate scammers as much as anyone here.

If no one dares to speak up for those who aren't here to defend themselves, then what would the world become? Those that talks loudest or behaves the most aggressively are the sole holder of the truth? I'm sure any reasonable person would be able to see the sense of my posting. Truth be told, if I'm the seller and I have done no such thing as what the buyer has accused me of, I wouldn't bother to reply in here. I would save the whole thread and get the lawyer to settle this. Whether you guys choose to attack me as being the seller or friends of the seller, or choose to open your eyes and see how you can be a victim of such an accusation next time when you sell a watch online, so be it.

Hi Jarren I really do appreciate ur understanding at this point of time! Well at least you have been thru ( sorry to hear that too) to understand the bloody whole situation I'm in. Some fingers pointing to the seller, some to me, and minority to the dealer which I sold the watch to. Hiaz whatever it is I believe there's justice somewhere out there...

Let's not get on the offensive or be overly defensive.
I trust Princess Glynn will do the necessary to clear the seller's name should the piece turn out to be real, and the seller will be vindicated.
Given the facts presented and the reasonableness of doubt such as low quality encountered etc, a lot of other people may have made more rash decisions.

So if you are proven wrong, you will be putting out your own details and also engage a lawyer to sue yourself for defamation?

Besides, in the event that the movement is fake, who here can be sure it wasn't changed out after the seller passed you the watch? You mean sellers here who sell a Rolex today are to remain liable for the watch 1yr later? The buyer can change out the genuine movement for a fake movement and then accuse the seller of cheating him/her?

People really should think hard before they act and know that they have to be responsible for their words and not speak with impunity. An apology does not necessarily get one off the hook for their poor judgement in the real world.
Wah lao.... you are the seller?

thank you for the comments. Sounds as thou ur his friend...
First of all who on earth would be so free to go and change the movement for a $1700 watch?? Secondly I was told from the dealer that this type of movement is specially made for this watch, esp he has been in this trade long enough to 'educate' me on the differences. So it would be very impossible for a normal person to make such changes. Thirdly workmanship give way. Lousy n low quality movement he said. Forthly, a bro in this forum also knows this seller in ebay who sells many classico where he 'found' in clubs.... Sounds fish right? When I call the seller to clarify n meet up, he sounded so arragont instead of being helpful. I didnt totally expose his full details anyway. What I want is to seek advise here thats why I have a leak out a bit of his particulars. After all this do you think it makes sense for me to think I bought a fake watch? I hesitated for a long time before decide to post it here. Hope you understand my situation bro.
Having said that, I will be down to Wheelok by next Mon to verify the watch. Been extremely busy lately... Thanks to all the bros who show concern for me
in this forum. Will update soon!
