My problem is no more evidence liao. Service my hp and all data is lost. I forgot my ebay acc password cos im hardly in there n i dont remember bidding on the watch in ebay. He left his hp in there. He did pick up my call but just refuse to meet. Say wasting his time since it has been quite a while. Wonder if the telco able to track tele conversationsEven thou he is still selling fake watch! So guess have to let the police handle...

Since there are some traces that U Boat used Japanese Quartz movement in the initial stage, you should verify this piece of information. Send the case number to U Boat HQ via email to ensure the authenticity. This is very important.

It is important to note that you have verified with your watch dealer, whom may not be familiar with U Boat's history, has pointed out that it is a Japanese movement. A counterfeit U boat do not need to use Japanese movement. They can use any movement, be it Chinese or any others.

I understand that even if this is a genuine quartz U Boat, you may have overpaid this piece. Unfortunately, the deal is agreed upon and there is nothing you can do about this point already.

I think it is now your responsibility to check with U Boat or Bezel Singapore and authenticate this watch. I also think that you should clarify this as well.
The seller's name, HP number has been published. If he did sell the real thing... Then something must be done about it.

Whatever the case is, be cool about it. That is the most important.

few years back my friend bought one at 500euros. tried one myself side by side with a swiss movement one. quality difference is substantial. not only the look of the movement. case quality differs too.

its genuine but can appear fake compared to the later series.

In case of alleged cheating where a company is involved, the victim can take it up with CASE (Consumers Association of Singapore). If its pte individual to another, you can go to the law. Like one bro here who got a bad experience over a Daytona having fake engine from a another forummer. He made a police report of cheating and the assigned investigator would check up the details with both parties before giving his advice about the next legal options after taking into account the legitimacy of the complaint. Cheating is a non-seizable offence i.e. after a police report the victim next can obtain a court order for a civil case if victim wants justice.

Therefore the crux of the issue lies in the distinction made between seizable and non-seizable (can arrest or not) offences under the law. If a crime is considered under the Criminal Procedure Code to be 'seizable', then police can arrest the suspect immediately without needing a warrant and pursue for prosecution. But if it's not seizable, then it is up to the victim to seek his own redress. He can complain to a magistrate who can then instruct the police to investigate, take up a private prosecution (magistrate complaint), or file a civil suit (sue) for damages. The list of seizable and non-seizable offences has been in place since Singapore's laws were set after our independence and this list has generally remained unchanged. This list basically reflects which crimes the State deems as the more serious ones which require immediate police attention, eg. murder, rape, kidnapping, robbery and theft. For the not so serious ones such as perjury, mischief and cheating, the police have no power to arrest (or even investigate) unless a magistrate orders it (through lodging a magistrate complaint or filing a civil suit). No offence to the SPF, but they are lazy morons. seriously, they are only keen in high profile cases like murders, rapes, molest and especially drunk driving cases. do you really think they give half a **** about you and how you failed to check a second hand watch properly before buying it. Forget it. You are wasting your time.

You do not have hard evidence and they would much rather pursue something more concrete that gets more media coverage. Even things like domestic violence will get more attention than your case.

BTW, I suggest you temper your expectations when making a police report. I'm not optimistic it would really be of much help.

They've never solved any of the 3 police cases I have filed in my life. Heck, they didn't even update me the status of the investigation.

Unless you want to have a case against the seller i.e. civil suit, if not, police only file report for you and will not pursue. period. own personal experience with our men in blue...

LV and GUCCI does not provide authentication services

but you can bring your bag in and say you wanna send for cleaning and if it is a fake, they'll tell you politely that it is not a product of the company.

that is true cuz I have a friend who bought one in Amsterdam for ard 1k plus SGD and it is really genuine. I was shocked to learn that though.
maybe u wld like to make sure the watch is truly authentic before making a police report?
If the watchmaker can put the movement in, I'm sure it can be removed and replaced back.

Thank you all the bors for your listening ear & providing valuable information & advise. Really appreciate it. I will definitely get Bezel to authenciate the watch (if possible) later today. I will also write in to U-Boat (Miss Narcisa as given by toffeethings) for a better understanding ofthe watch.
But whatever it is I will definitely get it done soon & update all the bros again.

Get BEZEL to authenticate it, if they do not have the expertise then tell them to comfirm with the parent company. Get black and white from BEZEL whether is GENUINE or FAKE. With this letter you can easily action. If Bezel proof genuine case close, seller name cleared. If is Fake then make a police report, get BEZEL to assist you since they are the AD. Being AD is their duty to assist customers and catch those selling fakes! They have to do it and if they dun care then their brand will be tarnish forever with such dun F#*& care attitude .

Example like LV and GUCCI, they get the local authorities to raid stores, pasar malam and houses to clear their names and protect their products.

the fastest way is to verify the watch at UBOAT asap.....2nd guessing the watch would not solve the problem...btw not all watch shops are well-versed in new brands or even vintages...
