  • Are there any teachers in this forum?

    Hi all,

just interested to find out if there are any teachers who are as interested in watches as I am

most people who are here, are usually bankers, engineers, high end sales people, finance sector... etc...

Have not seen many who are teachers.

If you are just answer an aye! just for me to find out

Or there could even be a poll to find out what kind of industry attracts people who are so fanatical about watches.

wow, many accolades for this guy

but it seems like other than the one you guys are referring to, there seems to be a lack of teachers who are "into" watches...

once one of my colleagues noticed my breitling and found out that it was in the 3k-4k range she was like WHATS THAT? crazy ar spend so much on a watch...

so that made wonder... teachers are one profession not into watches...

Thoughtful thread you've created. Having known quite some people who are in this hobby, I do not think there is any correlation with the jobs they hold. But definitely, like it had been mentioned before here, one must be financially sound (not rich) at least, to the extent that he/she can afford this hobby.

              hahaha,

yea you are right... principals are more likely to have these watches, with higher income they command... i will beware...

and though there is no direct correlation between jobs and watches, i believe there to be a certain industry who values watches more than others.

For one, bankers are one who do 'eyeball' watches...

i maybe wrong cos this was told to me by a close friend of mine.

                Hi Bro (or sis?) Fengy,
Yeah, I'm a teacher too but I think my watch collecting abilities are better than my teaching abilities (I sure hope none of my students are reading this, hehe).

Of course, the irony is if my teaching is no good, I won't be able to better my collection : P

Oh, another bro on this forum is a Chinese teacher and very into watches as well! He's probably the nice guy mentioned by Bro Wolfeyes, hehe!

Cost of collection does need to correlate to income, so you will likely see more doctors, lawyers, bankers, businessmen into high end collection of different things.

But joy of collection is not related to wealth. There are some who collect seikos and casios and are well regarded by others for their passion and knowledge.

In any sense of comparison, teachers or principals for any matter can't and don't need to follow the stables of the really well off. But that is not to say you cannot know and share knowledge about these pieces.

A teacher who spends his bonus of $8000 on a rolex should be equally proud and happy as a millionaire who has just bought a MBF-HM1.

                  Cheers

                            Haha, very observant and eagle-eyed!

Yes, its a Vacheron Constantin. Was contemplating a Big Pilot or VC Overseas but I guess the allure of owning a VC won me over. Next on the list will probably be the Aquanaut, if it ever materializes, then my collection will be complete.

Oh, no bonus used for me, just using my vastly depleted savings to buy : ( Will probably have to clear a few pieces to make room ($$$ wise) for it, or at least that's what I always tell myself : )

woah.... yea man.. nice collection and with a watch from the original trinity of watchmakers... yours is almost complete...

One of my dream watches is PP Nautilus and AP Day-Date...

I am just thankful I own a Rolex with my own hard earned cash from a trip to Switzerland... thought i would only be able to do so after I turn 30 but well made it 2 years before that!

Any more would be too much for now...

Hopefully wait for another 2-3 years for another big item purchase. Cheers!

And yes Darkangel, one of the lecturers has already PMed me, nice lad and i guess i will see where the other lecturer is heheh
