  • Buy first or sell first?

Questions to those of you who flips watches.

Do you usually buy your "new love" first and then try to offload your old piece(s), or, sell first and then hunt for your target?

What is your experience of pros and cons of both behaviours?

If the price for the piece I m hunting is good, I will buy first and offload. Provided I have enough funds also lah.

Sell first then hunt for target is the usual tactic, I mean..even if you see the piece you want but you no money to buy also LL. Lots of patience and controlling of the poison from flowing is involved.

Nothing 'hard & fast'. Whichever comes first. If I can get a good price for a watch I like and I haven't yet sell any, I'll still buy first. And same for an item I want to sell. The best scenario is both happen simultaneously.

          Agree with all of you.

Ideally there is always some cash to roll so that
          - wouldn't miss a bargain when it shows up
          - no pressure-selling of watches at cut-price to fund new buying

Cash is king!!!...easier said than done

I just did what you suggested recently. Bought a brand new Pam 210 without selling off my other watch. A risk taken. Luckily I managed to sell my existing watches via sg-roc.
