I sent the seller the following:

      Hi

If I bid and won this item, could we meet at the Tag AD in Singapore to check it's authenticity before payment?

      Many Thanks

      He replied:

Sorry we cannot do that. You will have to bring the watch to Tag for authentication if you wish to.

      To which I asked:

      OK.

And if it was not authentic?

      We await with bated breath . . . .

I will be very apprehensive if seller is not keen on authenticating the watch before closing the deal. Be careful...

I think if its authentic, there is no reason why a seller is unwilling to have it authenticated. If its not a local seller, then its best to steer clear / assess who buys from this seller, and the buyer's own background.

I've seen a seller having like 30 positive rep points, and you click their buyers, they in turn have between 5-10 rep points. And if you are bothered to click on the 3rd tier raters, I've ever seen alot of nasty remarks that that guys is a con artist. These ppl will spend time to "convince" others they are a genuine seller... so still be careful.

I would give watch forums the thumbsup for my hunt for a pre-owned watch anytime.

pictures posted can be real. but when the watch comes through, it may be otherwise.

For a few hundred bucks saved, I rather not buy from ebay.

Learnt it the very hard way.
