Good music can be appreciated via all mediums... live performance, MP3 players, radio, etc. And hifi is just one of the mediums where IMHO, we can appreciate it even more. But then again, it does NOT mean it has to be expensive. We all have to live within our means... so the point is getting the best for the buck regardless if its $500 or $50,000. IMHO, the level of appreciation of music has no direct correlation with cost of hifi system.....

Errr... no lah... My shop is not at Adelphi. Cannot afford the rent there given that its a 'fun' business for me and my partner. But having said that, we are pretty committed and have been fortunate even to be around for 5 years. Gosh... that's a long time from when I started from one of my bedroom. Anyway... it's still fun for us... I think that's the key.

I've always been a music lover (in the very first place), but just also happen to be an audiophile (which I think is an ugly word) in the second. If we need a solid, solid expensive hifi system to enjoy our music, then I think we are missing the point.

    Anyway... enough of talking c**k.

I'm actually ok to use my shop for a "Music Lovers' Session" if you guys like the idea. I've done that for other forums also. So it's just pure fun...

So when is a good time? Options are:

    1) Sunday afternoon
    2) Friday evening

Just make sure you bring your fav music. CDs, harddrive or thumbdrive also can... but sorry... no turntable in the shop.

wow. Looks like we have a good place to meet up liao!! Thanks to armchaireconomist. Hahaha. But we all have to beware. Another huge poison brewing. Hahaha playing hifi is really out of my league. I would happily spend money on ICE though cos I would enjoy more of the system than one at home since time at home are usually spent with the kids. Ü

Frankly, I love the jazz genre and bossanova type. I have to admit that i do not have any indepth knowledge of jazz. I go for whatever pleaseing to my ears in this genre.
In 2000 when I was in NYC for holiday, I went to south manhattan club hopping in the district known as the village where jazz pubs are in abundance. Enjoyed it so much in my 4 nights outing. Well we also went to broadway for musical lah.
Thanks so much for the advice on Olivia. Will check those places out.

I don't think it's that difficult to find her CD. I have her "Fall In Love With" CD, very laid back & adult contemporary. You should also listen to the Taiwanese singer, Joanna Wang

Hey Bro Sam, for Olivia's 如燕; I dun it was released on any of her albums yet. It was rumoured tat it will be inside a Chinese album which will be releasing this year. For her CDs, you can try Gramophone as it is cheaper than Tat CD shop. They stock quite an amount of her albums.

You can go to: http://www.s2sj.com/incense/VSOP/index.html for a list of her albums to date.
