  • Best steak?

    HI BROS!

Started this thread because I'm a steak lover. Twice a week at least.
Do contribute where do you think you had the best steak and the prices please.

    Thank you!

    Cheers,
    Nicholas

I am also a steak lover but sad to say, my wife is not so heard of many good places from colleagues for steak but haven't really explore with my wife though there are also other dishes on the menu beside steak, i guess but with no kaki, will not enjoy!

I think overall, MORTON is always on the list when it comes to good steak and nice atmostphere which is equally important!

I guess i will be making my move to try and will give true feedback. In the mean time, bros here who have tried can give more information?

    Cheers!

For myself, favourite place so far is at Angus house which is at Taka.
You can top up 10 dollars more for set dinner. It's not those any o how starters and all.
Usually will have starter, soup, salad and even desserts.
It's quite nice. If I have to rate then it would be 9/10.
Abit pricey but definitely worth it. Oh yea and the starters rotate and change from time to time. Even the soup.
Quality is definitely there. Do try it out some time. Per person maybe around 70+.
Do make reservation during weekends. Kinda packed there. Might not be able to get seats.

      Cheers!

Black Angus for me. Beats Morton in my opinion.
        PP 5726 leather for work
        PP 5167 for smart casual

        And for my Mrs

I went to black Angus the other time. The one beside forum. Was dressed fairly casual and they didn't bother to serve me properly. There were seats all around and they didn't allow me to sit in the shade and had me seated somewhere bright and hot.
Got pissed and immediately stood up and left. It was an off peak hour like around 3.
          Had a pretty bad experience.

CUT by Wolgang Puck at MBS. Best i ever tasted...went there 3-4 times and still crave for it. I strongly recommend

Steakhouse at Clarke Quay is the next best alternative.

They've the worst steaks (same like Chillis)...tough meat even if you order medium rare tenderloin. Went there twice because of friend's birthday and both times turned out the same. Sorry Andy bro - have to disagree with you.

Affordable - Black Angus , Ribeye

                        Splurge - Morton's , Filet Mignon

All in rare or at most medium-rare.

My favourite 2, but totally different price points, and Morton's is really expensive, so Black Angus is my go-to choice, where as Morton's is maybe only for special occasions.

Can anyone remember Coachman's Inn in PSA Building. Had wonderful steaks there and the service was good. I remember that the chef would prepare the crepe right at your table. I had some memorable occasions there.

IMO, Morton's is no doubt good but is a bit overhyped. I used to love Lawry's but currently no cravings to go there again. Angus at takashimaya is my wife's favourite. I would like to try Cut at MBS but got to wait for a special occasion. The best steak that I ever had was at Rockpool in Melbourne 's Crown Plaza. The fats off my sirloin was like melt in the mouth type....unforgettable...

However, the most value for money steak is to buy a piece from NTUC Finest or MMMM and cook it yourself. Their wagyu beef is good value.

Nope...about $90-$200+/- if i remember correctly...depends on age, type and weight (T-bone etc). Excludes side dishes and wine. Typically, no wine and dinner for 2 should come up to $300 +/-. but definitely worth it. You can ask them to explain what does various parts/type of steak and they're knowledgeable.

You will see paintings of Brad Pitt, Denzer Washington and other celebrities in the restaurant..apparently they're regulars in the U.S restaurant. that's what i was told

I'm not a fan of tenderloin aka fillet mignon. The taste is too grainy and boring IMHO. But I must admit the supposed mix breed tenderloin cut at CUT is pretty good and different. I prefer meat with heavy marbling so tenderloin doesn't really hit the spot for me, except for the one at CUT.

My personal selection of good steak venues:
CUT - very ex but good for the experience.
Mortons - can't go wrong. What you pay is what you get. Literally! Good value though huge portions but value for $, IMHO.
Table at 7 - bone in wagyu prime rib. Another good value place.
Gattopardo - bone in wagyu prime rib. Also good value.
FLAB - best value. Bone in angus. Will post pics later.
I don't have enuf watches but I will stop buying now!
