Definitely ask for refund or replacement..

as to how you do it, many forumers have already asked...

Yes, the main thing is do not lose lose your cool bro!
You've bought something tat's worth $4k plus not $40 plus..
If the SE/SA can't do anything, it always helps to make the store manager or even better division manager come out to resolve ur case.
I'm sure somthing good will come out of this!
          Good luck!!

as it is a numbered edition, getting a replacement is a little harder. normally, for normal piece, it would have been easier to get a replacement piece. this can be verified through the serial number as each watch usually have a different serial number. on the other side, hopefully you can request for another numbered edition as it is usually psycological when it comes down to a defect unit that has been repaired.

on how to handle with the boutique staff. be POLITE but FIRM. ask them what they can do for you. from there, you negotiate. NEVER scream or shout @ them, it wont help your case. they can turn back on you and say when you left the shop, it was in good working condition, this can be verified through their close circuit camera.

I agree wat most of them mention.. stay cool and there is no point to blow up ur top on them.. c wat they offer u and maybe u can forward an email to Chopard telling them u hv tis problem n c wat is their reply.. I hv some problem wif Performance motor oso... tat was wat i do, after sending the car back to performance motor, i oso forward an email to BWM in German... at least nw they r looking into the problem tat i hv.....
Stand up for wat is rite even if you r standing alone

I'll give my own and quote what whiteangle said. If u r engaged, drop them a call first, and arranged another time. At least they knw of ur concern. Subsequently do notify the HQ even though ur problem is attended to by local AD.

sometimes even if you get overhaul, no use, because your mind tells you that the piece is "defect" and not "original"

Often the watch companies do not offer refund policy. Thumbs up to Chopard for this excellent service
