How do we avoid watches being magnetized?
i think mine is,it is gaining about at least 30s to 1min every 24hrs.
under warranty,so i can bring to Ion boutique to demagnetize?
how does it usually take?Prefer to have it this weekend and CNY...
By the way, just bring warranty booklet right?need receipt of purchase?

I have heard and read differing views on this but my pam 111 got magnetised before. It suddenly became faster by about 1min/day. After demagnetising the watch, the time accuracy was back to normal and the watch shop didn't do anything else to do it so it was definitely due to magnetisation.

I was not able to confirm the cause of the magnetisation. I suspect it's becos I sometimes leave my watch on my wallet which had magentic cards (credit cards, office security pass) or on my iPad which had a magentic flip cover. Basically avoid putting your watch near magnetic sources which include computers and other electronics devices.

The process of demagnetisation is actually very fast. There's a machine which you put in the watch itself and the actual process takes only a few mins. I did it at JWWatch becos my watch was out of warranty so I'm not sure if the Pam boutiques will need to bring it back to the Richmonte service centre to do it.

There are other things that can magnetize your watch. Speakers, phones, earphones have magnets. If you place yr watch too close to them, I won't be surprised they can be magnetized.
I don't have enuf watches but I will stop buying now!

Wow...that's a big deviation...Best is to check with Ion Boutique. Only them can advise if it is a quick fix for them.

Yup. Just bring the warranty booklet. Don't have to bring the receipt.

        All the best.

You can check the watch with a compass. Have a look at the video

The thing how to prevent getting close to computers? Typing on the keyboard daily is already close. .and how close is close?
Daily walk around with the watch on wrist and wallet/hp in the pocket is a natural thing!

As long as you don't take off your watch and rest them on or placed them touching these objects. Anyway, it's very easy to demagnetise so even if it happens again *touch wood*, not a big issue.

Just an fyi. Although whenever your watch is fast, it doesn't necessarily mean it's magnetized though that is usually the default suspicion. My 320 was fast by 3 min a day and up to 5 min a week when I bought it brand spanking new 5 years ago from a local ad. I realized this after owning it for a week. I sent it back richemont (the ion boutique wasn't up yet), and they had itregulated for me. It wasn't magnetized.
I don't have enuf watches but I will stop buying now!

Good to hear some promising outcome. Christine is stellar. She and Aida are my go to ladies of Ion Boutique.
