Assuming price difference is not an issue (ie same price), would you rather keep a Pam 1A or a Pam 172 (tantalium)?

I'd go for the tantalium over the 1A. It seems that collectors hanker after bases more than marinas for the neo-vintage series. The PAM172 is a great looker on the wrist, given it's blued hands. The mustard strap compliments the 172 greatly. In regards to collectibility, I'd like to see it this way, there are only 300 pieces of PAM172 and 600 pieces of PAM192, making a total of 900 pieces of Panerai made with the tantalium case. How rare is that? However, it'd be difficult for me if I'm given the choice between the PAm2A and the PAm172, I'd be skewed towards the PAM2A.

The 172 is unique and the grey hue on the case is unmistakable, lighter than a PVD colour.

I like Tritium dials but is afriad the 1A hands may flake.

Yup, that's one potential big headache but the tritium flaking appears to be more common on the subs and not the 1a or 2a etc.
