  • Luminor Vs Luminor 1950

    From far, both looks similar.

Have read that 1950 has better ergonomics and tend to be more comfortable than the former. Bros, is it really true?

1950 casing is thicker and really brings out the pam in a more loud way. IMO 1950 casing looks way better.

The Luminor 1950 case looks similar to the Luminor case from the front, but when viewed from the side, you notice the differences instantly - the profile is higher, the curves are more defined, and the 1950 case looks a little more classic vintage than its predecessor

Some calls it the 'cushion case' because the way it is shaped like a pillow - i like its look, and i like its bulk and heft even more
It sits higher on the wrist due to the thickness, and feels a little 'top-heavy' to some - but that's exactly the charm of the 1950 case - it looks and feels heavier

I think a lot depends on the movement inside. The automatics tend to be thicker due to the movement size.

+1 for the quick change system, as with my 000 I hardly changed straps. With the 233 now, I often use different straps on Friday, Saturday and Sunday!

True, the quick strap change makes changing the strap easier and less risky cos the tool is plastic and hence won't scratch the case. However, I prefer the normal Luminor case of my 25 for swimming and as a daily beater since its profile is lower.

Haha! Panerai ION boutique also advised me to use toothpicks too!

Found that the best toothpicks are those from MBS. Because in 1 packet, there are 2 toothpicks with one side of each toothpick being sharp only.

                  Hahahaha!

Hmmm, thanks for the good idea! But I think better avoid those with the mint tips!

Do they add one more box of toothpick when you buy the watch?

Would be good to get Panerai branded toothpicks with our Pam purchases! Hahaha!

I actually didn't know the difference between the Luminor and the Luminor 1950 until I had the opportunity to have 1 of each side by side to compare. I noticed the following:

                            1. From the top-down view, the 1950 looks bigger and slightly roundish whereas the Luminor was squarish.
                            2. On the side, the 1950 is noticeably thicker and has a pillow-looking effect. The Luminor was thinner and squarish.
                            3. On the 1950, my strap fitted my wrist snugly whereas upon using the same strap on the Luminor, the fit was looser by a bit.
                            4. The 1950 is heftier than the Luminor.

                            Cheers!
