      They aren't the specialist. They can only gauge based on experience.
      I doubt they open up the case to verify the movement.

        Went to some pawnshop to check prices before, easily 10% higher then some pre-own dealers price in Forum garage.

          I bought a piece from a pawnshop chain recently and comes with cert and box. The price is really negotiable if you are paying cash. And better pricing than some sellers here. Add to that they come with buy-back price with warranty.

          Not too bad a deal and you need to shop around though.

            I hv a hardcore frd who like a Rolex walking encyclopedia sometime he stalks & stops those seller @ Pawnshop, b4 they enter the shop to sell their watch.
            He is every ready with all his tool & gauge to open & inspect the watch inside out on the spot/HDB void deck/coffee shop if the deal is struck.

            I personally think my frd is a nut

              if got such knowledgeable frens, definitely can pick up gd deals along the way..

              but it's not for the pantang ppl...

                    To be honest I felt a bit uncomfortable about the background of the owners or history the watch thus never really tried buying anything from a pawnshop before.
