  • Newer model or older one with papers?

    hi,
I was looking at sub 16610 in a shop and was offered two pieces.

This is curious, but which one would you choose (if prices both the same), and why?

I thought it would be an interesting question.

One piece is from U-series, about 1998, not sold end-link (non-SEL) bracelet and T<25, so no more luminous. But with papers.

One piece is younger, from K-series. Solid end link (SEL), super luminova dial so luminous ... condition slightly better. But otherwise, no papers.

    Both same price.
    Which would you pick?

i would take the one with papers without a doubt.

i also believe the non SEL and T<25.

exterior condition can be fixed. so does interior.

I personally like a watch wif papers. And to me, a Tritium dial (T<25) is a bonus.

Sometimes it annoys me that my current sub is dark all the time because the tritium is dead.

Does it annoy anyone else? I was thinking of having my vintage sub re-lumed.

I will go for 16610 with paper and T<25 never mind with no more luminous.

When the watch is old and it's well taking care, it is not a big concern about the age.

On the other hand, I would feel that the watch is getting nearer to becomes vintage, provide you are a vintage watch lover

              Cheerio,

Keltzar...it's a vintage sub and it has a great impact on the watch value if you have to re-lume it.

If the watch is going to be your daily tool watch and not going to re-sell it, then you may think otherwise.

                That's my 2 cents...

                Cheers,

older with papers. reason? simple. if you want to sell, papers will always add perceived value. missing box? no problems, you can source those from preowned shops.

I think I rmb discussing this question on WUS before. I would say..go for the older model(I wont really consider it vintage since it's only 10 yrs old) if you don't mind it.

Yes, I do agreed it's not vintage,

but compared to those younger watch it probably faster reaching of vintage level.

                        Cheers,

I was also looking at GMTs lately.

Which would be a better buy -

a GMT 16700 with papers, or a GMT 16750 without papers for 10% more?
