Can try and find "new old stock". This was how I bought my first rolex, which was actually an s/s model, as a gift for my wife.
The watch was A-series, made in 1999 but I bought it in 2007. So it was discontinued when I bought it new from an AD... but I got it at a good price as the increases were less than for a current model. I paid S$4.2k for a new lady's s/s datejust with date.
Another way to buy cheaper, is to find either the non-date lady's models or the mid-size models ... these are less popular, so can be much cheaper. A new non-date was an option I considered a year ago, which was at that time was $3.6k new.Comment
