  • Are there professional watch traders who will act as brokers for overseas watches?

    All Bros,
Are there any watch traders out there (in Singapore), who are willing to be brokers with overseas traders?

Say we find a watch that is for sale overseas, and assume we are keen to purchase, either because it is difficult to get that piece in Singapore, or because the overseas price is much more compelling vs local, etc. etc. ... but then we do not know the reliability or references of the seller ... so for some of us, it would mean we will pass on the opportunity to purchase.

Are there any watch traders in Singapore you know of, who would be willing to broker the deal, pay upfront and bring the watch into Singapore via all logistical processes, and bear the risks of the watch turning out to be a good fake? If authenticated to be a fake, the deal with the local buyer does not go through, and the local trader/ broker will need to address this with the seller; however, if the watch is genuine, the trader/ broker will sell the watch to the Singapore buyer and collect a prior agreed 'fee'.

Your views/ advice is well appreciated.
To any potential brokers, please PM me. Thanks.

does that mean that you are interested in this watch by an overseas seller. however, you dont trust this overseas seller completely. so you engage a middleman to approach this overseas seller to get the watch.

you then pay this middleman for concluding the deal if the watch is certified original.

    this raises some questions.

    1) what watch brand is it
    2) how much you want to pay this middleman.
    3) the most important is what price is being agreed on.
    4) who does the negotiation of price? you or middleman?

if it is preown rolex or panerai, maybe can advise you who to look for.

how much 'commission' you willing to pay this middleman for 'taking risk' for you initially. im sure if the 'commission' is enticing enough, many will volunteer.

difficult to get but does not mean cannot. approach the right people, the watch is possible to be secured.

      thank you, Bro Triton.

      replies to your questions:
      1) watch brands are: Patek, Rolex, Lange.
2,3) final price + commission should be between prices quoted and available in Singapore, and that quoted overseas.
      4) local middleman will nego with local buyer upfront on commission. Middleman can also nego with overseas seller, if he can get it at lower price, good for middleman and his margins.

Can't really see the point in anyone else taking the risk, surely if you're buying high end watch you'd spend the extra and get it from an AD or a reliable source?

Anyway won't the middleman's cut take all your savings on the watch?

Yes. U pay a deposit to view few watches of that model. If confirm intention to buy at dealer's px, dealer ships that particular watch over. Dealer takes the credit risk of authencity and buyer can only back out if piece is different (different serial number) from the pic with depo refunded. Else, buyer has to take delivery or risk deposit forfeited. Buyer Do pay more attention and clearly state requirements especially for watches with leather strap or items with sizes.
