Too Many people wear Rolexes... From Chinese Towkey to Fishmonger, from Ah Beng to Ah Long, the definitive status symbol in Asia at least....

For me, i choose PAM over Rollie... erm... just simply cos i like it.. not becos of the resale value or what others sees in it
But if $$ is no object, i take AP anytime

    Cheers

I just hope you do not mis-lead other forum members by giving advice that you yourself can't backup.

At time I do enjoy your posting e.g. history of rolex.

IMO, rolex still hold the resale value more compared to PAM. This is because of the long history and everyone knows Rolex which results in higher liquidity (get cash from any pawn shop, 2nd hand shop etc) compared to any other brands. However, it all depend on your preference. The value of the watch is tied to how much you want it and your perceived value. I believe many of us here get the watches we want as long as we can afford them and do not really care much of the resale value in future. isn't it ?

Owned both like both.....they are just different !
Something I like apples sometimes i like oranges !

Panerai likes : size, design, sharp, trendy, yuppy, touch light lume, strap change can gives fresh looks, less common
dislikes : only looks good with strap, oxidating & spottings hands(some ppl like it but not me),expensive servicing, expensive strap, smelly straps

          Rolex(sports)likes:robust(swimming diving even reservist),all occassions,every green design,will not go wrong,cyclops len(poor eye sight),easy & affordable servicing,did i mentioned blue lume
          dislike:common,size(yes!they are making it bigger)

I like both ! They are just different ! Accept that ! IMHO

its going to be Mac or PC all over again. Fortunately we can have both in this instance. Dont worry too much about resale, just enjoy them, that the true value.

Also just to put some reason behind my question is. A new sub is 10k so to me seem like almost the price of higher range panarai I.e 1000 feet. Dnt flame me if I m not too up to date on panarai AD price. But I compare say a entry evel Pam Pam 000 or 005 it's ard 5.5k and sub is 7k or some newer ones are asking 10k... So to me I prefer a panarai. But much said I m still waiting to get a deep sea diver

                      historic pam is my choice

I like a big watch for a change. By big, I mean 44 or 45mm. Rolex tends to be too highly priced - eg deepsea sd and yachtmaster II. But pam historic models are ok and suit me well, as there less clutter on the dial, and the price is relatively good compared to Rolex

                        Iconic....

                        A crown for every achievement.
You never really own a Patek Phillipe. You merely look after it for the next generation.

                        Innovative...

                        Ceramic
                        Carbon composite

Which do you prefer? Samantha Fox or Megan Fox? (I am old enough to know both)

I prefer Megan fox and budget zhang zi yi.

Panerai is all about design. Like Pokemon , so many.
Each trainer have their own set.

But it's more expensive than Rolex to me.
For what goes into the watch.

It is already 2012, it is surprising people can say Panerai do not have their own in-house movements whilst they had developed in-house movements for some years already. This is really misleading.

In-house is a very subjective term....

If nothing (including lubricant) is outsource than considered in-house....then maybe only Seiko qualify.

If take ETA and mod till look different considered in-house...then got many.

So, very difficult to argue this here.

Let's try to square the circle.

PAM do have in-house movements that are not modified and decorated from ETAs and then "passsed off as in-house". I believe I have read little enough to understand this.
