I think the discontinued Explorer 2s are pretty good value for money given the current pre-own prices.

to each his own. Got my first rolex, a Sub ND, cheap as it may be but it is my first and i prefer to get it bnib.
i would go for preown going forward for certain models such as the Daytona as it brand new is above my budget.

Actually, this model produce less, hold value better.
Rolex sports models, like sub ND, are also "dress watch". Maybe many owners of sub ND finds it odd that a dress watch doesn't have a date function after owning it for a while, and trade up. Still, sub ND does not discount deeply even as a pre-owned. So, technically no problem with the sub ND, it's an owner's "mind" issue..

Bros Ocean is right about AD price.
    Sub 114060 @ sgd 9,750 (not model # 14060M)
Need to buy, buy the latest model with the new hairspring, technology & cerachrom bezel.
Sub 116610LN @ sgd 11,120 (if hear correctly)
    Sub 116610LV @ sgd 13,000
    * Less 10% possible, more will depend.

After consider rebate & voucher, Sub 114060 is about sgd 7,710.
    HKG, s/b at about 49,900.
After discount (let say 5%) & exchange rate, it's about sgd 7,770

Since Rolex do not introduce a new GMT II Pepsi Bezel (Blue + Red), I may settle for a Sub-ND.
Another items does interest me - PAM 00021 or 210.

The cheaper sports Rolexes would be Sub ND, Explorer I and the Milgauss.. Among these 3, sub ND would be the more popular choice - a reasonably new sub ND (2008 and later) would cost about 6k..
