Actually this has happened in sg before few years back. Pawn shop uncles can't tell the difference between the Mc Coy and end up taking in fakes.

Sharing this with all...please really bcareful seah!!!

Sometime back brought a TT 16013 vintage and was happy, then will the Rolex family start to grow, decided to go check on all members with the RSC and everyone were fine except for the TT 16013!

It was all fake except for the movement! The serial number was engraved into it, dont even have that serial number, the clasp was wrongly numbered and the dial etc was fake...so the RSC lady advised me nicely to quickly RETURN it to the previous owner/seller...the fake rolex serial number was recorded inside a logbook n provided with a designated number starting with RSxxxx...then printed on the receipt...

Best of all, I got it from a gold jewellery shop, located in the northern part of our island, near Yxxxxx, Kxxxxx MRT station which was make famous by US naval sailors n some national incident sometime back...scary seah! Went back and confronted the seller n he kept insisted its a real rolex...and was highly defensive...till I saw him the Rolex official receipt! He kept quiet and insisted his shop will take back the watch less 20%...pissed lah but do not wish any further confrontation and just wan my money back, and went off!

sharing this story here, so that all knowledgeable SGROC members can b careful as really have fakie out there n unless u check it with RSC...no way to know for sure...

Take care all bros n sis!

        Hi All,

        Sorry for the late reply.
I was away on an overseas business trip and am still overseas.

Result from the authentication. ONLY the watch movement is real.
However, they do not comment on the bracelet which may worth some money.
My father got his money back from his friend, actually friend of friend, but not the full amount.
Guess what? Mum was furious and my father did not want to pursue this matter any further.

I do not know the model of the watch but it was a full gold with 'diamonds'. And it looked really 'uncle'.
It was a good lesson learnt. Do not rush into buying anything esp a rolex!
Thank you all for taking the time to come to my 'rescue' and I want to apologise AGAIN to all for the late reply.
I think this is a great forum as people share their experiences and give their advice.

Cheers and Be Safe out there

Bro, paper are also easy to fake and more economically worthwhile which can bring up the value of a watch by a few k? Papers are not exactly foolproof. Same materials can be used, but there are still extreme minor telltales signs which only the craziest most experienced collectors can tell. Just be very careful when buying from some developed Asian markets.

counterfeiters can't earn from a real gold replicate case as most used gold rolex are selling marginally above intrinsic values compared to ss pieces. The ss models are more lucrative to counterfeit. Just my 2 cents.

This is v true. Replicas are usually plated gold, not the real stuff. Ss pieces make for better margins

Just saw in bangkok an imaculate copy of rolexes and AP , breitlings. The bigger surprise was when I ask to open the case back of the breitling, the shop owner oblige and I can see the engravings of the breitling logos and serials on the movement. I think the only way to distinguish the real from fake is unless you are watchmaker or a very experience collector. I think it is very hard to tell the difference. nowadays

While on the topic of replicas, this website makes me sick in the stomach. I hope the interpol or something can take action and close it down and send the owners to jail!

Bro, I actually find this site interesting because I was looking at the rep pictures and comparing it to my own watch.

Helps to actually notice what are the tell take signs of a fake!
