Datejust vs Datejust 2 - what the diff ?

I noticed that the DJ II does not state DJ II but just DJ on the dial although it is called DJ II. Does anyone know why?

I dunno why but I would think its nice for Rolex if they could label it differently on the dial. At least oone feel more justified to pay additional few K more than the normal DJ.

1 look alone will differciate a DJ and DJ2 so i believe thers no need for the 2 to be on the dial. very stunning watch

Not sure about this theory leh....the Explorer I and II looks very distinctly different, but yet there is indication on the watch that it is a explorer or explorer II....

Both the date-date II and the datejust II do not show the new name on the dial. One may infer that the bigger version will supplant the smaller version eventually.

Just got my date Just 2 yesterday, beauty. Was hoping to get the DayDate 2 but far beyond my budget for a watch. I compared both DJ and DJ2, Size differs but same wordings on the dial

even if i was a DJ2 owner, i dont think id want the dial to state "date just 2" or "date just II" the size and bezel is enough to remind me about it . no need the 2/II on the dial
