The indexes and hands of the white and black dial Explorer II are different. So if you want a change of the dials, you will also need to include changing the indexes and hands.
Any idea where I could have a dial swap from our local reputable watch shop? I am intending to switch my current black dial to a white base by purchasing another dial face. Roughly how much will cost?
I am going to keep both the dial, give it a change every 3-4 yrs to refresh the look.
sell away ur black explorer and buy a white one. tat is the easiest way out.

good idea too
I think that takes more effort than just getting the ROLEX Service Centre (RSC) to change the dial. The cost of the dial, which will include the hands (they come in a set), is $668.75. RSC will not return you the original dial set and will keep it. The labor charge is another $107. Now you can do your math.
The waiting time is subjective. It will depend on the technicians' work load.
The above information is correct as of November 2011.
