  • Advice on GMT2 M series.

Would like to seek advice on purchasing a GMT 2c. Currently I'm deciding between two offers one is a M series BNIB $9200 and another latest alphanumeric series at $9700 BNIB.

Which is a better deal for myself ? Is $500 difference justifiable to get a newer series?

    Thanks.

I would go for newer series
M is 2008 while alphanumeric is probably 2011
If u ask me, 3 yr for $500 is rather reasonable
Why? Eg if you service a watch once every 5yr costing $800, 3yr is about $480
Of course this is just an example
Not every watch require servicing every 5yr
Also need to consider if the M is dated 2008? Is warranty expired?

Price and series aside, other important consideration are
              1. Condition of watch
              2. Full set including cert

it is already mentioned that both sets are BNIB. so condition of watch should be the same.

I guess you could be right
Still, would be good to physically look at the watches to confirm condition and that all boxes, books, tags, accessories are included

M series is possibly produced between the period of 08/2007 to 07/2008
V series is possibly produced between the period of 08/2008 to 05/2010
alphanumeric series is possibly started production in early 2010.

as such, no one can ascertain if the M series is 07 or 08 watch and the alphanumeric may not even be 2011, it could be 2010 or even 2012.

if it is a BNIB watch, why would one have to factor in the servicing cost?

anyway, both watches are BNIB. so if they have to be serviced, it would also based on possibly usage time and hence, does not matter if TS buys the alphanumeric or M series watch now, 5 years down the road, also need to service. so TS would have save 500 still.

Older watch might have lubrication issue compared to newer watch?
Or older watch sitting on shelf might have been touched and handled by more hands than a newer watch?
Older watch might have its crown Screwed and unscrewed more no of times than newer watch by sales persons or customers?

Hence I wont mind paying 500 more for a alphanumeric than a M

Thanks for the advice. For everything equal in terms of condition and box and all inclusive.

Just mainly I guess based on the difference of M series vs alphanumeric series, would you save $500.

Thanks in advance guys. I agree on the fact that regardless which I get both also would eventually have to service is just which is sooner or later, so that's not really a factor to me haha

Well if everything same in outlook and mechanism is saving $500 a good thing haha ?

                          Cheers !

Hi triton thanks for your advice. You are right I'm consider the M series that's why I'm seeking advice to see if it is a good move to go for older series watch

Which I'm currently leaning on the M and save the $500. Haha
