In this price list I also found the answer I have been looking for since I started collecting day dates....

No wonder we see so many 1803 without the 18K bracelet, the 1803 was actually sold with leather straps!

price was HKD2000 so sing dollar $400.

the model listed here is the 5512 for HKD500.
I like the reference to the bracelet number so next time you buy make sure the bracelet model match your vintage watch!

Great find there! Interesting to have a complete list of rolex price and model for the 60s.
The time in life is perpertually moving forward while that in the watch is going in circles.

Now. The 7206 bracelet alone would cost more than the 1963 price for whole watch. But back then think exchange only around 1 to 3!

In comparison, my friend's house in serangoon gardens cost $17000 in 1970. Now, 2m. Ha

My grandfather did and passed me a 1601. But this was the cause of me spending many thousands for the years to come.

I wished my granddad had bought a Paul Newman instead of the 1601. They were quite similiar in price back then!

i wish my old man bought a vintage milgauss instead of the 6694 similar design, but worth a hell of a lot more today

the HKD in 1963 may not be SGD x 5.

IIRC, US$1 in the 60s was about SG$2~3 and HK$5~6.

all dress models in the past, especially precious metal ones, could be purchased with a strap. some sport models had options too, like the sub and the tropic.

for dress gold/plat models, you could also mix and match many different styles of bracelets (in matching metal) that rolex used to make. VRF is a treasure trove of such information.

                      example:

another reason why the 180x watches you see rarely come with bracelet is because many of them were smelted due to rising gold prices and/or because the condition is bad.

replacements were not always purchased because... well, you know why!

i'm still looking to buy an 18mm YG rolex buckle from you!
