Richemont has stop doing verification for a long time.
There are other ways and means to do verification but I leave it to the experts here to advice.
The clean cut way is of course to pay up and get it done professionally.

forgotten which thread but I rem seeing a thread saying there are many "fake" panerai in market...
so best not to get from dealer or seller you are not comfortable with.

              no offence to anyone.

ION accepts PAMs for authentication. Costs $1200. As mentioned previously, its better to just send the watch in for servicing and let them tell you if its authentic. Costs about $500.

No, I'm saying ION does provide authentication services for a fee but it appears to make more sense to have the watch authenticated and serviced at the same time since its cheaper. However, if you can work out an arrangement with the seller, I don't see why not.

Go to **..Thats what I did before I bought it..

I send it to Richmont after a week to check if my watch needs to be regulated.

They checked my watch for an hour and told me its running perfectly. They even printed out the data with the results.

                        double confirmed!!

So the seller agreed to bring the watch to ** before you pay the full sum?

How much did the "checkup" at Richemont cost?

Richemont has ceased to provide authentication service years back. The information is available in the forum.
