Need Some Advise For Preowned Watch Svc @ RSC

Hey Pros ! Need some input here abt full svc @ RSC.

I just bought a 3 mths olds (Dated Jul 2008) Explorer 2, Black Dial, M Series & HK Origin from the 2nd dealer. Yep ! the watch and components are authentic !

So my official warranty basically will be expired by nxt yr Jun 2009.

I wonder a mth before my official warranty expired & i sent my E2 bck to RSC for thorough full svc, so that it can be maint free for at least another 5 yrs ?

So i wonder will they perform my request ? or decline ?

Any pros out thr pls kindly shine me some advices ?

Just came out of RSC.

Now the service charge is $500 (they did not say what was included in this servicing charge).

The technician also suggested I change the dial and hands as there are small scratches seen though the lube. That would be another $300.

Then he also said there was some corrosion on the case (tiny holes in the inside of the case near the threads) so he suggested changing a new case and case back. Otherwise they won't guarantee waterproofing.

Wah lau, total damage $1.4k. I'm more concerned if I change case, case back, dial and hands - this becomes a franken watch......

And as usual, the service aunty put pressure to take their recommendations. She also kindly showed me her own Rolex and highlighted what a watch in tip top condition looks like. How kind of her.

they will say need to replace a few things, of course you can request certain things not change.

the change in case will result in a serial number: 4XXXXXX, the 4 signifies that it is a replacement case.

pitting is not unusual for older watches....

Anyone know what the cost is for a standard servicing and the time taken?

Going to send in my sub date within this 1-2 days. locking is loose.... and timing is fast.. lets see what they say...

Hi Everyone,

As mentioned yesterday regarding my 16613, TT.

I sent it to RSC this morning and was a real nice experience for me.

Very GOOD customer service from Entrance to Exit.

Oic. I am planning to check a pre-own GMT II for internal damage or non-genuine parts by sending it for full service instead of just visual authetication by RSC. Does anyone here do the same before you buy a pre-own watch?

Internal..only can be done when you do full service

Depends on the type of servicing required, Could take from a few days to a few weeks. Price also varies, based on the type of work needed to be done. When you bring the watch in, RSC will do an assessment and give you an estimate on the cost and time required upfront.

situations like this quite rare. a friend of mine sent in a Rolex Sub from the early 90s, watch came out with one of the hour markers missing.

RSC said they could not replace the dial as they no longer had it. My foolish friend just accepted the explanation. Couldn't believe he was such a "good" customer.

But I think such situations are rare. You need to be quite unlucky for that to happen.

Being a hot headed person, I would have F them up properly first, then demand that they document their error in writing and then tell them I will write to their Geneva HQ to tell/ask them..."How can a World class watchmaker accidentally make my hour marker drop out from the dial?"

Rolex very concerned about their reputation one mah...so see what they can do about it lor...after kicking up a BIG fuss
